Hershey, PA: Chocolate World!

While driving through rural Pennsylvania, I saw this sign that said, "Hershey" and I HAD to get off the highway to take a look. It was about a 40 mile detour but what the heck. (I know, I shouldn't take pictures while driving but, eh, hazards of traveling solo)



I kept following the signs that said "Hershey Attractions" and wound up pulling into a parking lot. The parking attendant asked where I was going. I said, "I don't know. I just got off the highway and followed the signs!" He laughed, told me I had three hours free and off I went! First stop - Chocolate World!



I don't think I've ever seen mounds of chocolate piled this high.



Next I walked over to Hershey Park. It's a theme park with roller coasters and everything! I had no idea!



Since I didn't have time to go to the theme park, I drove around the town of Hershey instead. Street lamps shaped like Hershey Kisses and streets with names like "Cocoa Ave" and "Chocolate St". A kid's dream!

Alas, it was time to move on...next stop Washington, DC!
