San Antonio, TX: Mexican food, the Alamo, Riverwalk

The main purpose of going down to San Antonio was to see my friend Mel. Mel and I were cube buddies back at "The Merv" (Mervyn's). She has a beautiful little boy, Anders, who just adores her. They are attached at the hip.

Since I was only in town for one day, Anders went to Grandma's and Mel and I went out to play! First stop: Market Square for some fresh Tex Mex at Mi Tierra

They have a HUGE bar and LOTS of yummy looking pastries

Each room had its own crazy decor

Very important! Margaritas! This little one is made with Partida Blanco - my fav tequila! And salsa and chips and fresh guac! So happy!

I got enchiladas with chicken and mole. Mel's is regular enchiladas with cheese. Tender juicy pulled strips of chicken wrapped in a soft tortilla smothered with homemade mole. To die for!

Next, we went to the mercado where I bought myself some silver hoop earrings.

Since we were both so stuffed from lunch, we decided to walk down to the Riverwalk and Alamo, about one mile each way. (Notice the boots!)

Riverwalk!

My friend Mel and more Riverwalk scenery

CHECK OUT THOSE BOOTS!! YEE-HAW! LOVE THEM!

Afterward, Mel and I went to get our nails done (rudest nail lady ever) and watched "Knight & Day" with Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz (worse movie ever). Regardless, we had a great time and I loved hanging out with my girl friend. I'm going to miss you Mel. Let's not wait 5 years before seeing each other again, ok? You're the best. Love you very much!

Next stop: Los Alamos, New Mexico! 14 hour drive tomorrow...
